<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Abstract.<\/strong> The theme of fatal women appears in Bulgarian literature between the first and second half of\u00a0 the 20th century for the first time in the novella\u00a0\u00a0 \u2018The Peach Thief\u2019 and in the novels \u2018Lieutenant Bentz\u2019 and \u2018Tobacco\u2019 by Dimitar Dimov. The plot of the novella has many layers, but the one about decay and aging predomi- nates. The chronotopic and landscape descriptions create an apocalyptic view of the world and relate to the colonel who has lost his human identity and is Elisaveta\u2019s husband.The object background also adds to the idea of the absurdity of the world. The colonel\u2019s villa is on the outskirts of the town and alludes to the declining life func- tions. The story line focuses on Lisa. The summer scenery, with the land and the unhealthy view of the countryside, has peculiar suggestiveness. It is\u00a0 in harmony with the mind of the heroine, with her nature, craving\u00a0 passion. Liza will desert her former world by leaving it literally \u2013 in space, and emotionally \u2013 with her roman- tic relationship with Ivo. In love she finds freedom and happiness, which she has never experienced before as she has voluntarily agreed to serve prejudice and habit.
