Abstract. The paper aims to present a study conducted among Bulgarian students. The study was organized in the framework of the Assessing Reading Literacy and Comprehension of Early Graders in Bulgaria and Italy project intended to compare and analyze the results of primary school students in Italy and Bulgaria. The paper discusses the objectives of the study, the preparation stage by both researchers and teachers, the methods of conducting the study, the platform used, and the preliminary results. A brief outline of the future work on data processing and the parameters of the text to be analysed is given.
