Absract. The modern economy has a number of characteristics, one of which is the highly dynamic structural changes in the labor market. As a result, enterprises and organizations are faced with serious current problems and future challenges, related to access to the human resources they need with a level of knowledge, professional skills and competences adequate to the objective needs. This places as a strategic priority the formation, maintenance and development of human resources corresponding to the requirements and expectations of the business. Continuing Vocational Training (CVT) is a major tool for realizing this priority.
The main purpose of the paper is to investigate the main aspects and characteristics of the CVT in Bulgaria during the period 2005 – 2020. The research methods used are the method of analysis and synthesis, statistical methods, graphic method, etc. The main research results are: the derived quantitative characteristics of the CVT; the general conclusions made regarding the state and dynamics in the development of the CVT in Bulgaria, incl. in comparison to EU countries.
